The Lakes, our kind of District

Setting off for Scotland, we anticipated a gentle meander North via The Lake District, an as-yet unexplored part of our world. Perhaps it was the ‘Day One’ experience, swimming in the mist-wreathed Brothers Water, walking up to Angle Tarn, blazing hot skies offering hazy, majestic views of the surrounding hills, but something immediately struck a chord. It felt like our kind of place. So, we lingered. Longer. Dipping in to Loughrigg Tarn, discovering the quieter corners of Borrowdale and Eskdale, losing ourselves in the magic of Grizedale Forest … hikes, cycles and swims. Good food, quiet moments, a slower pace of life. And ‘just one week’ became three weeks; we’re wondering how soon we can get back
